The 2007 Vince & Val Laws Under 10's Trophy was a memorable day for all 13 teams who participated, there were some excellent football skills displayed on the day from the preliminary rounds right up to the final but the most exciting game of the day was the marathon match that went into extra-time (after 1-1 draw in normal time) to penalty kicks to decide the winner between Sydney United & Fairfield Hotspurs. With extra-time unable to separate the two teams, it took ten (10) penalty kicks to determine the winner, Sydney United gained their right to meet West Pymble who awaited in the final. West Pymble who had proceeded in the final with a wonderful display of attacking football defeated CC Strikers in the other semi final carried their form into the final to win the decider 3 - 1. Both teams played very well in the final, Sydney United were courageous in defeat however, at the end of the day there could only be one winner and that was West Pymble who deserved their victory. Congratulations to West Pymble on their victory and to all teams who participated not only did we observe some excellent football from some quality teams in a strong competition but there was great sportsmanship from all players and spectators. The Canterbury Junior Football Club enjoyed hosting such a fantastic day and we invite teams to come back next year. Our U10/1 team performed very well on the day, progressing to the quarter final against West Pymble only to fall short on a single corner on a count back after a 0-0 draw. Whilst it was disappointing for the team to be eliminated without losing a single match on the day, the boys played some excellent football and were congratulated by several teams including West Pymble who complemented on their ability and excellent sportsmanship. WELL DONE BOYS !
